Jeff Castner Talks Pacers

Jeff Castner is not convinced the Indiana Pacers really wanted Lance Stephenson back in the fold. There is no doubt Stephenson was a fan favorite for his hustle and improvement over the last 4 seasons, but to let him slip away for less than one million per season tells the story. For all the good Stephenson brought to the court for the Pacers, there were many more negative things that impacted this Pacer team. In the end, the Pacers may have thought the negative outweighed the positive. Give the front office some credit for at least offering Stephenson a decent contract to keep him around, but I’m not so sure they’re too sad to see him move on. Best of luck to Stephenson in Charlotte.

Jeff Castner likes the additions of C.J. Miles and Rodney Stuckey to the Pacers. Both of these players will add depth at the guard position and should fill in just fine for Stephenson. Stuckey played very well off the bench in Detroit last season and could be a big contributor. Miles will add outside shooting and may be the early favorite to fill in the starting role for Stephenson.

Jeff Castner is pretty sure the Pacers are not done dealing. Can this current Pacer roster win the East with Cleveland, Atlanta and Washington continuing to improve each season? Is there a deal out there to improve the Pacers? Will they have to move Roy Hibbert? Does anyone want Hibbert’s contract? Maybe a package deal that moves both Hibbert and George Hill? Larry Bird has some tough decisions to make in the coming weeks. It should be fun to follow what the next move will be.
