Jeff Castner on Reds Recent Slide

Jeff Castner is very frustrated by the recent play of the Cincinnati Reds. As they continue to fall in the standings there has to be an urgency to make some kind of move to jump-start this Reds team. The recent injuries to Votto and Phillips obviously hurt the Reds offensive fire power, but other players in the organization must step up and play like professionals.

Jeff Castner also believes the front office can not continue to watch this Reds offense continue to struggle to score runs. They must try to make a move and trade for someone who can give them some offense. We know that money is very tight, but this team currently sits fourth in the standings and games are slipping away. The Reds must get hot very soon or this season is virtually over.

There must be major changes in the off-season if this Reds team continues to falter. We must get more consistency in the middle of the Reds lineup. Votto’s best days may be in the past and Bruce continues to be inconsistent at the plate. This Reds team doesn’t have one player hitting over .300 and averages are falling fast since the All-Star break. Mesoraco, Hamilton and Frazier have been solid all season, but they need some help.

Let’s hope the Reds pitching staff can stay strong and the Reds’ bats suddenly get hot over the next 2 months. The race is not over yet, but trying to get by Milwaukee, St.Louis and Pittsburgh will be extremely difficult.
